I mark the fold line on darts, too. It helps when forming the darts to get them more accurate. I will sometimes add one if the pattern doesn't have one; with vintage patterns that's not always necessary.

I actually use my vintage patterns too. I know that many people would frown on that; but they're *patterns* that is their intended use! I love that feeling of being connected in an odd way with the previous owner and seamstress.

I always use the vintage paper patterns too - tracing something you may only use once seems so tedious and it's unlikely the pattern will be destroyed from just a few pin holes in them. I agree with Summerset - anything that's there to make it more accurate is a good thing, so trace away and use those fold lines!

Never thought to do that. Modern patterns don't have'em. Do they?

Ellen

I think marking the fold line is incredibly useful, but I don't always do it, I think because new patterns don't actually have them.

PatternJunkie

I usually mark fold lines on darts -- it makes them so much easier!
