Sewing Spaces: Win Erica B.'s favorite go-to sewing book!

To celebrate the success of the Sewing Spaces series, The Blue Gardenia is giving away The Complete Photo Guide to Sewing: 1100 Full-Color How-To Photos by the folks at Singer. Says the ever-so-beautiful and ever-so-talented Erica Bunker of the must-read blog  Erica B.'s D.I.Y. Style: "It tells you everything you need to know to get started.  I've been sewing for years, and I still refer to it." So there. I know Ms. B. would not steer us astray.

I really love seeing other people's sewing spaces. It is great to see that you don't have to have a dedicated room to make fabulous garments.

I love each of the sewing spaces you've featured...It has (1) justified my desire to have newer Bernina, and (2) made me realize that my setup in my bedroom isn't really all that bad. :) I do however COVET the cutting table in the most recent spotlight. I have loved peeking into other people's sewing rooms. Truly you can create a space wherever you are with whatever you have. I love the cutting table with the Ikea sawhorse legs. I'm inspired to recreate that. I get to have my own sewing room next month after my daughter's wedding!!!

The "Sewing Spaces" series is great, it's been so much fun getting inspiration for my future setup--a piece of the attic, lol.

I actually only know how to hand sew, but recently inherited my mother-in-law's sewing machine at my wedding. Can't wait to learn to use it!!

From Elle's space I popped over to Gabriella's blog and coveted the orange oven.

The Cupcake Goddess made me all the more comfortable with my cutting table/foyer console.

I've visited Ms. B's blog more than once now. (And not only to check to see if it's in Montgomery or somewhere else in AL that she lives. . .)

I now know that an "op shop" is the down under version of a thrift store!

I already feel that I know Erica, Carolyn, Elle, Kristy, Selfish, and Cupcake, so it's been really nice to get a peek into the places where they create. Carolyn's was the first sewing blog that I ever found; next came Erica's. I've been reading Elaine's blog for about a year I think, and she never fails to keep me stitches. I'll be glad when she settles down from her move and starts posting regularly again. I've just recently started following Elle, Kristy and Cupcake. I find that all six are amazing sewists, and I ever fail to learn something new when I read their blogs. I've had to email several of those featured for sewing advice more than twice. From the information they shared, we can all see that there is no absolutely perfect sewing environment. But from the work I've seen them each produce, to paraphrase Tim Gunn, they each know how to "MAKE IT WORK".

It is interesting to see how creativity can come out of large spaces and more compact spaces. It's not the size but what you do with it. ;)
I am going to invest in a rotary cutter and mat after seeing how many call it their most useful tool.

I used to bemoan my sewing space wedged in the sun room with too many other things, and adopting the kitchen table when I sew. But it seems thats the way most of us seem to get on. I've been deluding myself that others have a dedicated space to work in all this time!

I've definitely been a bit jealous of some of these sewing spaces but it's also been great to see some who have bits and pieces here and there and manage in what space they have. If i ever have a space i can dedicate to sewing i will have some nifty ideas thanks to this collection of sewing spaces! (And if Erica recommends this book then it must be good, she makes some beautiful clothes.)
